The ZAD is an area of occupied land just north of Nantes. The "Grand Ouest" airport project was discovered by locals in 1972 and opposed from the start. Squatters moved on to the land in 2007 and a number of different areas (houses, woodland, fields) have been occupied, evicted and re-occupied since.

The last big eviction attempt ("Operation César" - no, really) in November/December 2012 failed. The ZAD is still strong. The goal of this event, other than to have a few giggles, is to raise some funds (for court cases and supplies) for the zone and to inspire people to join the struggle.

There will be an info table with pictures and texts and also a screening of the film "When The Trees Shake", based around the occupation of La Grand Foret du Rohanne.

A detailed history of the struggle is available on the website, along with videos and up to date news.

This is happening next week! It's a BYOB event by the way.
