So here it is, I don't like beer.......

*Dodges various missiles and hurled insults*

    :D

But am I missing out on a particular one? I did like the sound of a banana bread beer I heard of someplace.

I just don't like the taste of beer, couldn't finish a bottle of the stuff never mind a pint :o

Any suggestions on what I should be looking to try?

People who "don't like beer" usually seem to love weissbiers, try that to start with.

Yeah Weissbier is a safe bet - a tad sweeter than regular beer...I'd recommend Erdinger

    And I'd recommend Paulaner.

It seems we have reached an impasse then.

    Weihenstephaner, anyone?

Actually Centra were doing a decent deal of 5 Franziskaner weissbier for a tenner the other day - helped myself to that anyway!
And OP just as a matter of interest, have you actually drank much beer? Because it's an acquired taste for some, I remember I hated it at first but now I love it! (in a non-alco way haha)

Beer is a pretty broad term. What have you tried, OP?

It's cheaper in Lidl. Think it's €1.79 there.

Fruit beers work on almost all people who say they hate beer. Specifically Belgian lambic-based krieks or framboises. I'd start with those.

Stay away from that Banana Bread Beer. It is the worst tasting beer I have ever had and is the only beer I have poured down the drain. I say this as a beer lover as well.

As other people have mentioned, a weissbier would be the place to start. Erdinger and Paulaner are a good place to start and you should be able to get one of them in any type of pub or off license. Also, weissbiers are cloudy beers, not clear not lagers or most ales.

There's a honeydew beer, think it might be Fullers. Also, the suggestion of the lambic framboises is good.

why are you scared to drink??
you think you might get drunk and do something stupid??

    @armstodiefor...

The OP never said that they were scared of beer or mentioned any issue with the effects of alcohol on their system.

They did say that they "don't like beer", but were willing to try some based on the recommendations of others in this forum.

Please stay on-topic & offer a recommendation if you have one.

hollows ginger beer, nice, refreshing and not really like a beer "in the traditional sense" at all.

Hoegaarden would be my suggestion. It's light tasting, easilly got and fairly innoffensive but still pretty much a nice beer. It's what I drink when I'm not on serious beer sampling duty and just want a nice handy pint.

It might be too sweet but a few of my who don't like lager, drink Kopparberg mixed fruits - comparable to ribena, unlke Bulmers berry which has a fairly detectable alcohol taste

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I've tried the usual mainstream suspects, guinness, heineken, bud, corona, harp that I can remember!

Bought Erdinger and Paulaner this week, tried one of them, didn't go well but I'll give it a go again lol.

I may not be a beer guy!
