Might sound a dozey question but how do the gears work in a new holland sle? I have driven the sl version which has a more straight forward gearbox.

    Am I right in assuming,
1st lever is for the throttle?
    2nd is for shuttle
3rd is this a combined hi-lo with 4 gears in each? Are the buttons on this handle for the dual power?
Have no idea what the outside lever is for?

Have noticed that there are more sle versions for sale then the sl's. think it time to bite the bullet this year and upgrade the tractor. Will be looking at new Hollands.

    1st lever throttle,
2nd Forward and reverse, with button clutch, also have standard floor clutch (for those of us who dont like change!!!)
3rd has two positions, each with four gears (both forward and reverse) buttons used to change from 1-4 and 5-8.
4th has two positions, Hi and Lo box.

We got a 7740 SLE ourselves 4 or 5 years ago. Have done the gearbox in it already (>3k). Not a fan of the model myself. Might just be our one but seems to be near constantly beeping at you with some fuse or other gone, going or thinking about leaving!!!!
An neighbour has a 7840 SL much better machine imho.

P.S I know very little the actual mechanics of them.

Probably a grand job for trailer work, and good for changing gear on the move. What's the deal with the electronic lift, do a wee bit of tillage from time to time.

Basically you set the level you want implement to work at and then flick the switch, this sets the level electronically so when you get to the headlands you hit the switch and implement is lifted to highest point, you turn and just on the start of next furrow/swarth etc you hit switch again and it automatically goes to previously preset height. It is a handy feature, the lift arm switches on rear mudguards is a good job too.

Still don't know if these would swing it for me, if I was buying again don't think id go for a SLE.

cheers. i do like that idea, do a bit of tillage and might get back into ploughing again (currently get it contracted). the cousin and i were looking to buying a 4 board plough between us. i also have my own rotovator, land levelers and harrows so having an auto lift setting is very handy. This is also the good option when using an offset mower or topper.

    HI
    I have a 02 TS115 SLE.
I'm having some problems lately with putting the tractor into reverse. Sometimes it works no problem. Other times it does not go into reverse depending on the day.

I noticed if i park facing down hill it seems to work ok and go into reverse, however if i park pointing up hill it will not go into reverse,

Checked all the transmission fluids are good etc. Really bugging me ass im going ploughing soon and am not sure if it will go into reverse for me.

No problems going into forward position.

sounds like an issue with the positioning of the shuttle lever if ttansmission fluid and pump is ok. did you check the leverm i know some tractors use position switches kinda like the brake light switch on a car. the one for the reverse may be out of position of have a loose connection
