Anyone else see the irony of this? Shops no longer allowed to advertisese cigarettes behind till but the ' smoking causes cancer ' label is there to remind john and mary to get fags.

Personally I think it makes a joke of the ban.

I don't think being forced to write "THIS PRODUCT WILL KILL YOU " on the side of a product can be called advertising.

Holy sh*t. I forgot to buy fags!

Thanks OP. Just you bringing up the subject has made me want to go out and buy cigarettes and I don't even smoke!

As a smoker I'm not going to forget to buy cigs when I need them.
I'd imagine John and Mary would be a bit slow on the uptake to be non smokers, see those warnings and say "hey, give us 20 benson while I'm here".
I kind of see what you are getting at here but to be honest.... Who gives a fvck!

John and Mary won't forget to buy them, nobody is going to see this sign and take up smoking there and then.

People who would be buying them anyway will still buy them, people who don't smoke won't feel the urge to start from seeing a poster.

Another reason why the ban is stupid IMO

It's there to appeal to the Daredevil hardcore smokers who take it as a challenge.
