With the rising cost of drink and particularly Buckfast, I'm just wondering where is the cheapest bottle of Buckfast on sale in the city and for how much?

Fine Wines have traditionally been the cheapest.

It's like £6 over in Scotland and it's not even made there. Amazing what this country gets away with!

Have you managed to convince yourself that it IS made in Ireland?

    It's made in Devon dude.

And Devon is in Scotland, is it? :)

Oh and I'm pretty sure the Irish one is actually made/bottled in Dublin, hence being a different label, bottle and recipe to the UK one. Not that that conflicts with my previous point anyway!

Irish buckie is bottled in Dublin, it says so on the label

Clearly Seaneh has not spent enough evenings alone in his room crying into a bottle of Devon Heaven with nothing better to do than study the label. Loser.

Bottled, it's still made in England and imported to Dublin.

The reason it's expensive there and not in The UK is 1)excise on imported alcohol and 2) tax on alcohol, it costs the amount in Devon as it does in Cardiff and Glasgow and anywhere else in the UK.

You basically clarified my point... well done? :pac:

Yes, buckie is often transported in container rather than bottle form. Here they are making a delivery to my house last week:

Ah, the monthly Buckfast thread on the Galway City forum.

I thought I'd missed it for a day or two. ;)

I'm surprised the whinge brigade haven't turned on Schooner yet. It still costs about €3.50 for a 70cl 15% bottle.

Just as well Rag Week doesn't exist anymore seeing as the silly drinks/clubs threads are appearing again for February.

Clearly it has befuddled your memory brains. It was never £3 in Ireland. Excise duties saw to that.
