Transfer into 2nd year Computer Science

    Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer directly into second year of the Computer Science and Information Technology course after completing first year in another college? I am currently studying Applied Computing in LYIT.

    Also how will this affect my grant? Will I continue to receive both the fees and maintenance elements? I understand that if I were to repeat first year I would lose the grant but does this still apply if I am progressing to second year? I have not been able to get an answer from SUSI regarding this.

    Any information would be appreciated.

    I know that it's possible to transfer to 2nd Year CS&IT from another NUIG course, but I'm not sure about from another college. We had two people come in to 2nd Year from Physics and something else.

    Hi there,

    If you are progressing from 1st year of a Level 8 in to 2nd year of another Level 8 then that is considered as progression and you could very well be eligible to receive funding.

    Yes you can. As long as you meet the entrance requirements for it and if they let you in of course.
