Think its time for an upgrade

Right i started off with a kanger starter pack from ESI and im off the stinkies since december :D, but i feel its time for an upgrade.

The T3's are grand untill they start gurrgling and leaking such a pain, the T2's are a little better in the sense that they dont leak as much. Now dont get me wrong i have T2's and T3's and will keep using them as i love vaping but want a bit more ;)

I'm looking for something that i can carry around in my pocket without it leaking, does the aga-t leak if its not in an upright position? as i was think of getting 1?Im also thinking of a phoenix as they are cheap enough, and a vh genesis is also up there, im trying to keep costs down within reason i dont mind spending a few quid for a worth while bit of kit.

Ill probably pick up a Igo-L dripper for use at home as well.
Also will probably pick up a vamo as the buddy has 1 and ive used it when round hes and i liked it although a bit of weight in it ;)

Any thoughts on the direction im heading for my next step up or recomendations ?

Cheers for the replies in advance

Anything with a hole in the side of the body and holes from the tank to the chamber is gonna leak a little at some point if you don't keep it upright, although the thicker the wick in the hole the less chance. If you HAVE to store your device sideways keeping it airhole pointing up would help.
Are you upgrading your battery as well? If you're sticking with eGos don't even dream of the AGA-T - it's much heavier than the battery and you'll have a glorified pendulum.
The Phoenix or A7 will definitely leak unless you either modify a drip-tip with a T3 air tube to build your own Spheroid clone OR buy this pre-made drip tip built for exactly this purpose. You'll have to keep the filler soaked but it'll hold much more juice than a dripper, and it won't leak.
If you're thinking of buying that drip tip I'll deffo jump in to buy another to save on shipping ($12 international)... Might get a few others interested, who knows?
The there's the Killer 705. Haven't tried it yet, but it's had mixed reactions depending on the tolerances of the tank used, but as long as the juice control is closed the device can't leak. Isn't cheap and it seems like something the Chinese will be able to make easy clones of, so it might be worth your while to wait and see unless you're an elitist/avid defender of intellectual property.
Making an A7-oid sounds the best bet.

You have lots of options, and that's a good thing. A dripper is a must, for vaping at home, a nice dripper like the Igo is money well spent, prepare to taste the juice!

For out and about/work you need some sort of tank sytem that you can fill and forget.

Start off with something cheap and and if it doesn't suit you, you're not out of pocket much.

If you haven't tried cartos before, may I suggest getting a pack of cartomisers and trying them for size. If they do the job for you, go ahead and buy a cheap tank system and some prepunched carts. They come in all sizes and diameters to match an ego or a vamo.

Carts are cheap, flavour would be comparable to a clearo. They could last from 3 days to a week or two and can be boiled and used again.

    Carts from about €1.40 ea

    Nice cheap tank €12

    Boge F16 €9
    http://www.vapourpal.com/boge-f16-tank-with-pre-punched-cartomiser-drip-tip.html#

    Smoktech ego size DCT €7.50

    Wee Boaby Tank £27.00

If those don't float your vaping boat, then a rebuildable atomiser might be a good option, although they are not to everyones liking and they might make you tear your hair out, trying to set them up right.
I've never had an issue but I could be the lucky exception! :p

I'm definitely interested in this grindle. Picked up an A7 at the vapemeet. Count me in for one of these please.

Grindle, I asked Vaperus (where I got my A7 from) if he can get the A7-oid in and he said yes. He'll let me know when he's got a delivery date.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭grindle

What, the driptip from re-doc? Man, if they starts selling those I'm all over that shiz.
Just the drip tip, or are they thinking of becoming Captivape resellers?

Resellers I think but not sure if he's able to get the whole range in or not. I asked him to message me when he knows more about the a7 -oid at least and I'll ask him to keep me posted about any future additions. Will let ya know when I hear more.

I got the IGO-L and the A7 and I've only just set them both up and I'm not a fan of the flavour off either of them. It feels like I can taste something that isn't just the flavour from the eliquid. I was vaping away at this eliquid for several days in a carto which I really like the flavour off. Dripped it into the drippers (my first dripper experience) and I'm not a fan at all. Definitely getting a new taste coming through. I really want to like dripping because everyone says it's awesome but initial experience makes me want to go back to a carto tank. What gives?

Wish I could be more specific. Guess I'll figure out more over the coming days. Not ready to give up yet. Will try more flavours and what not in the future.

I was talking to Superneat about the IGO-L in PM and he just gave me a nice list of suggestions to try.

So I'll try a bunch of things and whatever I find helps I'll report back for others read.

I know Grindle will tell me to try cotton pads. I saw a video once in my travels about how to make a wick from a cotton makeup pad so I'll track that down and try that along with Superneats suggestions. I'm sure some how I'll get these things tasting nice.

p.s. I like this vaping thread the best. Out of boards so far. Everyone is very helpful to each other. No idiots and what not in here.

the A7oid sounds like a brilliant solution... illicit let me know also when you get the reply from vaporus... ill be getting one too if he stocks it. Now i just wonder what would be best for filling material

Oh... Right... That's how it is then.

Mesh wick'll be awesome too, were you using silica? I get a strange taste off of it.
Just rebuilt the Killer with cotton and everything tastes much better. Getting slightly less vapour cos I've built it with a fatter wick but it's managed to grow a throathit, so that makes up for it.

Yes Grindle, that is how it is :D

Yeah Silica wick and I get a strange taste off it... Will try mesh and cotton wicks and see how it goes.

RUI - I'll PM you too and post here once I hear more from Vaperus.

The Captivape drip tips come with sera filler, so no shopping required unless you're shopping for the sake of it.

Worth the money? Not sure yet. I'm still shopping for a tank.
Used as a dripper w/o tank there's a leaking issue, but I've stuffed wick in there and it's not seeping the way it did with the installed wick now.
Bargain Vapour are out of the Trap tank at the moment but have the Angel tank in stock, which is the same basic concept but... Knurling... I wouldn't mind if the tank had scuffed or chipped edges, but knurling I don't like.
This tank works well with it too, but has no fill-hole. Might get one of them... Indecision,
The Prive and Varadero are used by a few people, some claiming tightness issues, but as long as it doesn't leak... Grand.
As a rebuild it's harder than a rebuildable that has screw-down posts, easier than a genesis.
Bonkers amount of vapour from it, flavour's fantastic.
I'll know a lot more once I get a tank, sorry!

Thanks a lot grindle, lots of info there.

Bit of a pity it was leaking in dripping mode, as it's one of the more expensive ones on the market. But at least you sorted it with a bit of wick.

    Sill undecided myself.

Keep us posted when you get the new tank.

If you like a warm vape, the killer will be for you.

I've got a 1.8ohm coil in there at the moment, can't bring it up past 3.4volts. As Grindle said, crazy crazy vapour off it...it's a little fog machine!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,417 ✭✭✭The Pontiac

    Getting tempted now. :)

    Alright guys, ordered the killer!

Now looking for a tank. Leaning towards the Prive but still not sure. Bargain Vapor seem to be out of stock in everything. Or maybe the KM Carto.

Anyone know what tank he's using in this video? Looks pretty straight forward.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,026 ✭✭✭grindle

It's neither of the tanks being brought out by Leo which is strange; looks kind of like the Wee Boaby by Siam Mods.
Alba Vapours stock it but their postage shot up to extortionate levels a while back.
It does work in the AGR carto tank at Vaperus.ie, although the bottom connector adds 1cm to the length... Buuuuuut... €11.50... Mmmmm.
Just don't try to fill it using the filler hole in the top of the AGR - bad, floody idea.
Cheap, works, only have to screw the bottom off to fill, it works with the big as well as the small tank if you get a straight drip tip.
I haven't measured how much juice it fits yet, but I've been vaping off a full tank since 10pm yesterday and it's about halfway down, so maybe 4ml?

Thanks a lot grindle, going to order the AGR. Not too expensive, and as you say, it works. I can order the Prive from the UK, but it's a good bit more expensive.

I'll follow your advice re. not filling from the top. 4ml is loads for me. Any other tips as you continue to use it, please let us know. Thanks for the advice!

Curiosity got the better of me - it fits precisely 4.5mls!
Just remember to close the juice control before you fill it up with juice or it'll pour out the mouthpiece. This is done by twisting the 510 extender closer onto the Killer.

Killer arrived today. When I fill it up with juice, it comes straight out the little hole in the bottom (very last hole by the screw threads). I assume I need an extension cap to block this hole to use in dripping mode? AGR tank will be arriving tomorrow so should work with that i.e. fill that little hole?

    Thanks again.

To use in dripping mode, you just need all of it tightly screwed together (including the 510 extender which should be with it). It only takes ~8 drops in dripping mode.
It shouldn't come out the bottom if it's screwed together tightly and you've dripped down the side of the atty.
If you drip straight down into the ceramic cup you're asking for a leak.

Got it going now. Was filling it up way, way too much. Crickey it's a good vape! Had to turn the voltage down, so much power.

I'd be lost without you. :) Tank coming tomorrow, so probably more questions. lol.

Very happy with the killer. Pure quality.
