NCT-2nd fail. Brakes

    Hi
Car went through NCT in Jan and failed on brake pipes.
Went to garage and brake fluid drained/refilled and new brake pipes put in.
At re-test the car failed on an imbalance in the brake test (rear brake effort above 30%). This was fine the first time so it has been affected by the repair work done.
    So...
Now I have to get ANOTHER re-test but by Tuesday 19th-2 days time because they don't give you a new due date after the first re-test. This is for E28 re-test fee.

Does anyone know if I can miss the deadline of the 19th and just book in for a full test again in a more reasonable time frame?!

Also is the brake performance something that should/could have been checked by the garage after they did the pipes?

Supposing they didn't have the equipment to measure this does anyone know of a garage that does.

    Thanks for any suggestions :)

Yes you can miss the test but you will have to pay the retest fee when you go back for a full test the next time.

most garages dont have thw same way of testing brakes/suspencion the same way as the nct do. Im sure if you rang them first thing in the morning they will sort it for (most likely for free if your not rude) and you can go tuesday and get your cert

So you think if I went back in 10 days for example I'd have to pay the full fee plus the retest fee. I hope not!
Fingers crossed I can get the repairs done tomorrow. The only thing is no available nct tests on the nct website for about a week but I'll cross that bridge-maybe I could ring up for a cancellation. Anyway thanks for your reply.

Garages that have test equipment for light commercials VTN can test brake balance on their rollers.
Its a tricky one to get right, I failed on it last month and had to get a 2nd hand brake balance valve and fit it, my local VTN garage tested it for me.
If you want people to suggest garages in your area you should put in your location.
