Has anyone rented holiday apartment in new York city? There are a few websites (Housetrip and Flipkey) specialising, in apartment renting for 5-6 days any experience with any of them. I am looking at staying in Manhatten.

    thanks

Apartment holiday rental in New York is mostly illegal. You risk being evicted mid stay. Also there are a lot of scams out there. There are however plenty of apartment style hotels. Check out affinia.com, radio city apartments or Hilton doubletree. Generally their websites will show rack rates, but if you sign up to travelzoo.com you will probably come across some deals closer to your holiday.

Check out craigslist maybe. They have a good selection, but, as with anywhere, be cautious about scams. And never pay more than 50% deposit. Thats usually where the scam lies.

As a previous poster said, short term lets (under 30 days) are illegal in NYC. The aparthotels Cordni mentioned offer good value with the benefits of cleaners, security etc.
