The hard disk of the above laptop has failed. It has a Toshiba hard drive, labelled, MK3265GSX N, 320GB. No other markings on disc.

Could anyone tell me, if the Seagate Momentus SATA 3, 7200rpm, 750GB are compatible with each other.

I would be extremely grateful if anyone can help with this query.

Virtually all laptop HDDs of the last several years are SATA, 2.5" drives.

Beyond that, they should all work. It doesn't matter if it's 7200RPM, 5400RPM, or higher if you can find it. It also doesn't matter if it's SSD or Hybrid. As long as you get a SATA 2.5" drive, it's technically compatible. Storage Drives are very brand agnostic and the SATA interface is friendly and flexible. SATA 3 is backwards compatible with SATA 2. The Hard Drive you found will work great

It is compatible, but keep in mind that a 7k2 rpm drive is likely to be noisier and it will drain more juice from the battery.

If disk space is not so much of an issue, consider a solid state drive instead of a platter hard disk drive. No mechanical parts, thus no noise emission at all and they're less prone to accidental damage and insanely fast. A 128 GB SSD should be comparable in price.
