What do people think of this? It cuts the journey to Australia down to 2 flights but for me the huge disadvantage is you don't go on the a380 as its mostly 777s they seem to be using.

Don't Qantas still fly an A380 to Heathrow via Dubai? Or do they then swap you onto an Emirates aircraft for the rest of the journey?

I'm booked with them for Sydney-Heathrow in August and it shows A380 all the way.

Seems to me that Heathrow will be bypassed from March too. So it will be DUB-DXB-Oz.

Qantas site gives you both options since they have a code share on the DXB-DUB route.

QANTAS will operate 2x daily A380 SYD-LHR-DXB. Emirates will operate 5x Daily DXB-LHR. In DXB, passengers will either travel onwards to Australia with QANTAS, or change to Emirates, depending on their booking/destination. The Emirates equipment to Australia will be a mix of A380 or B777, depending on the specific flight and destination.

I think the B77W operates flights to all Aussie destinations Emirates fly to, namely, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney & Mebourne, BUT some flights to Melbourne and Sydney are operated by A380's. Maybe Emirates are scaling back flights from DXB to SYD in light on two extra A380 services on the route

It looks like the A380 only goes to SYD and MEL and most others are operated by the B773.
Is there now a flight from LHR-DXB in place of the SIN route or what's happening to those A380s?

From an email I got awhile back Qantas are changing QF1/2 and QF9/10 (Melbourne) to go via Dubai to London. So that's more A380's.

Also Qantas has said LHR - SIN will be a code share with BA to enable Qantas passengers to connect in Singapore but they will no longer operate the route.
