What would give him that opinion? I can't imagine anyone can offer you an opinion on what your friend has said beyond the fact that Benedict XVI clearly laid out the reasons for his resignation.

Is anyone else beginnging to grow tired of some of the more outlandish speculations concerning the resignation of the Pope?

Aside from anything else, it is insulting to the integrity and honesty of the man as was displayed when he chose to make this brave and humble act of resignation for the good of us all and our Church. Please stop demeaning it with petty gossip and conspiracy theories.

And we all know how trustworthy the Catholic hierarchy have been proven to be in recent times.

This is insulting to the intelligence of anybody who has seen from a distance the recent Popes attitudes say to aids in Africa or homosexuals. Or moreso his management of the church in their reaction to many of the child rapists which they protect. It just goes to show the brainwashed followers that still exist when such a man is called "brave and humble " or " integrity and honesty ". Shocking.

Maybe try and educate yourself in more recent updates before posting nonsense.
