Cooking Defrosted Steak

So I have a steak for dinner tonight, I've had it defrosting all day in the fridge...

So I'm just looking for the best way to cook it, I'd normally like my steak medium-rare, but I'm unsure if its possible to cook a defrosted steak that way.

    Cheers in advance

I'd love, out of curiosity, to read peoples opinions on this. As someone who enjoys a thick rare steak i wouldn't bother freezing it as I'd be of the opinion that I'd have to cook it well once I've defrosted it.
