Knocking from engine Hyundai Getz

    I have an 04 Hyundai Getz 1.1 it's done 58,000 miles.
A couple of weeks ago it started knocking from the engine, it sounds like it's coming from the drivers side towards the bottom of the engine. Sometimes the sound is louder than other times. There's no warning light on the dash. The suspension seems fine.
The timing belt was replaced in November.
    Any ideas please?

Did you check the oil level?

Yes oil level is fine. Put some oil treatment in it and the noise went for a short while but it's back again. Used petrol treatment too.

If the oil treatment did make a difference then it would make me suspect that there is a problem with a bearing in the engine.
Is the knocking worse when the engine is hot or cold? Is it worse at high RPM or idle?

Could you post a link to the oil treatment you used?

Also if you could post a video of the noise it might help :).

These engines are prone to issues with the crank shaft pulley. The pulley wears and can move slightly from side to side against the cranks woodruff key which can cause a knocking noise.

Is there anything that can be done about that?

Sorry for the late reply. We used Wynns oil treatment.
My husband adjusted the tappets, they were well out and it's made quite a lot of difference. The engine isn't nearly as noisy as it was.
It seems to be lacking in power though (that was before the tappets too). So not sure what that's all about.

Are you sure he adjusted tappets?

Yes I am sure he adjusted the tappets.
