Listening to reports from officials in Dublin Port, the Finnarrow which departed Dublin Port in the early hours of this morning arrived into Holyhead whilst taking on water.

The suspected cause of the incident is that the ship came into port with its stablisers still deployed.

The Finnarrow was a relief ship for the Stena Nordica whilst the Nordica relived the Stena Europe as it went into drydock. It now transpires that the Finnarrow may now have to be towed to drydock when sea worthy again.

Whilst repairs take place there will be major disruption in the Port of Holyhead as the Finnarrow is now stuck on the Irish Ferries berth. Initial thoughts are that this repair may take days.

As of yet there are no links but I'd imagine a few photos will emerge in the coming hours. Supposedly the aft of the ship is visibly sunk in the water.

Stenaline's only reference to it on their information services is "CANCELLED Technical" http://www.stenaline.ie/ferry/latest-sailing-information/dublin-port-holyhead/

Passengers and crew evacuated from vessel in Holyhead
Stena Line has confirmed there was an incident at Holyhead port in Anglesey at around 6am this morning as the Stena Line charter ship Finnarrow was berthing in Holyhead en route from Dublin Port which involved the ship’s stabilisers.

All 77 passengers and 43 crew onboard the vessel were evacuated and the vessel was safely berthed.

The vessel is currently docked in Holyhead undergoing inspections and will remain out of service for the immediate future.

Stena Line passengers due to travel on Stena Line’s Holyhead-Dublin service will be accommodated on alternative sailings and are currently being contacted by the company to advise them of the situation.
