File permissions on Windows 8

Hi all,

Been trying to start development on my new Windows 8 machine and working with FlashDevelop.

Been trying to build one of the sample project but I'm getting an error I've traced back to permissions errors. The path to the sample projects is:
C:\Program Files (x86)\FlashDevelop\Projects

and I'm running this as an administrator. Problem is I can't get access to the files to modify them. I've tried changing the read only access, the modify permissions, inheritence, using the following in cmd:
C:\>attrib -r +s c:\FlashDevelop (I moved it to see if I could change the permissions on C alone) and nothing is working!?

Anyone know how to get rid of the bloody security in windows 8????

This is from vista onwards.

Program Files is a special system directory - DO NOT USE THIS for your temporary files or whatever. Instead use %PROGRAMDATA% or something else. There will be a directory called "C:\Program Data" on your machine that is hidden.

C:\FlashDevelop should be fine tho, are you not able to write into this as well?

Program files are protected by UAC to stop malware interfering with stuff.

I don't mind moving to C:/FlashDevelop but everytime I change the folder from Read-only to not, it seems to apply the changes but if I check it straight after, it is set back to read only

Try using "C:\Program Data\FlashDevelop".
