A mate had one when they came out first; claimed it was a better way of obtaining the Golf GTi engine without paying the premium. Fitting his golf clubs in the boot was an important factor (make of that what you will). He'd moved from a 156 estate. Very low mileage, changed each two years. Didn't get another but that's more down to his capriciousness.

Underneath the coupe type styling it has the running gear of the regular Passat so the same plus/minus points apply. Lots of high mileage imports about and specs between Irish and UK models vary. Generally the Irish base models are a bit higher spec than similar UK models but there are more top of the range UK models about especially with the 170bhp 2.0 TDi.

They don't drive exactly like the Passat though, having test driven one when they came out I remember it feeling a lot more sporty. I guess the lower centre of gravity and standard sport suspension makes a difference. The interior also seems to be higher quality

The adaptive suspension was only on the top spec models though, expensive option on the rest afaik. The CC interior was superior to the B6 Passat interior and they then pretty much fitted it into the B7 (facelifted B6) from 2010.

The secondhand market seem to be high mileage, 90km up to 130k
Is this something to worry about?

You are going to get that with a 4 or 5 year old diesel car though.
