I just wondered if someone could tell me whats the difference between a hosted and a regular forum? Do you pay to get a hosted forum? How does one apply for one, etc?

Hosted forums are considered essentially guest forums that are given a home on boards.ie. They're usually pretty specific in nature, otherwise they'd be covered under the normal forums. Their mods, hmods, are not part of the normal mods groups. Application for one is done by the normal forum request mechanism.
