the Thule Aero rack system is your only man, you can get it in Halfords, can be pricey but is very well made and lockable.

Bikeradar is a good source for reviews from UK cycling mags - they always rate Thule hightly - also Saris racks.

I bought the Saris Bones 2 Rack, fits most saloons and no need for a tow bar. They are solid in construction and I have never had any problems with it, €137

I have to give Micks Garage a plug as they were very helpful when I purchased mine. I got the 3-Bike Rear Door Mounted Bike Carrier -
The Peruzzo Venezia on which there is a video on the site. After 2-3 times putting it on and taking it off... it now second nature to me!!

Happy to recommend them and the rack.

Another recommendation for the Saris Bones. I have the Bones 3 which, as the name suggests, holds 3 bikes. The mechanism means it can fit onto most/any boot shape.

The boot mounted ones are more fuel efficient as the bikes are behind the car out of the wind. Their downside is they aren't lockable. We use a couple of long cable locks to lock them to the car wheels. That all depends how big the gaps are in your car wheel rim design.
