newbie to road bike

Hi All an a newbie to this site . I have just invested in a trek road bike . used to do a lot of cycling (off road) a few years ago but really want to get back into it and do ring of kerry this year and few more cycles. Any advise for a starter ? also what clothing gear do i need to get . Am based in killarney
