I have a house (dormer in the country) that was build about 10 years ago and at the time I would have put in what ever insulation was advised (I believe it was foam sheets (Kingspan??). I am wondering if there is any point in gettnig the walls now also pumped. Is there any advantage in doing this (I have been quoted about 850 for it), will there be any improvement (even some) or is there any disadvantages to doing it?. And any particular type - foram or beads????
    Thanks

My friend got beads pumped into wall with existing king span already in it. He said it made a big difference.

stay away from foam for cavity wall insulation it does not have the appropriate cert from nsai. beads are the way to go. and yes you will notice a difference as the beads will fill any gaps in your insulation and stop cold air circulating in the cavity stripping heat from the house. dont forget to increase the insulation in the ceilings of your dormer and any stub walls that you can get to.

If you can afford it I think you shoud do it as you will notice the difference. With sheets of insulation there will always be gaps especially as a lot of block layers used to cut it with a trowel and just push it in where ever it fitted.

I got beads pumped into walls of a 18 year old bungalow with high gables at a cost of 750 euros last summer, they were half full of insulation already. The house keeps its heat all day and the cost will be paid back within the next couple of years.
