Has anyone gone through this process before? I have applied for 2nd year into a science course but have heard nothing back in 2 weeks. How long does it take and what chances do you think I might have in getting in?

Unless the previous course you did has a direct link with the one you're applying to, I would say you will have to do an interview or something. Get in touch with the head of the department.
