    Hi
I am a stamp 4 visa holder. My wife is an Irish citizen. Can I get social security benefits. Can I apply for fas courses. I am an IT graduate. Which course is good? software developer or Web developer or Java developer?
    Please give me an answer.

If your an IT graduate you should already be up to fas standards in all those courses which would be basic enough.

This is not correct. In order to qualify for benefits you must have paid the minimum number of contributions (basically 2 years worth). So unless you've worked and paid enough PRSI then you won't get benefits. However you might qualify for allowances i.e. means tested payments. Whether or not you get them will depend on your circumstances.

Having said that, if your wife has paid contributions she can sign them over to you but if she were then to need to claim social welfare she might not have the credits to do so.

To qualify for FAS you need to be on the live register AFAIK.

Finally, bear in mind that your visa may be affected if you are in receipt of SW as many visas stipulate that you should be able to support yourself without the assistance of the state. And if you want to apply for citizenship it will be taken into account.
