American Football / Superbowl on TV

    Hi there,

I tend to watch the NFL on Sky Sports, I don't catch it every weekend, but I will tune in occasionally, and I always watch the Superbowl.

I'm thinking of getting rid of Sky Sports so I'm wondering if I did, what would my options be? I believe BBC show the Superbowl, is that right? Do they show any regular season/playoff games too?

    Thanks...

    J.

You could get Monday night. Games on the red button but no sun or Thurs games

It seems to be up for re-negotiation every year, last year Sky had a Thursday night game if there was one(01:30am), and 2 games on Sunday evening(6pm, 9pm)

The late game on Sunday (01:30am) was on Channel 4 and the Monday night football (01:30) was on BBC on the red button usually.

So there were a few games on terrestrial TV they were the ones on at the most unsocial hours.

Previously ESPN had the MNF games but dropped them this year.

As for next year it's likely to be similar to this year.

Thanks for the replies (and the PM)!

I wouldn't be watching the late night/early morning games normally. So it sounds like on Terrestrial TV all I'd really get to watch is the Superbowl? BBC do show it right? I'd hate to drop Sky Sports and then not have the Superbowl on next year! :)

Yeah, the Superbowl is on the BBC. You can always record the late games and watch them the next day, A lot of the time the best games of the week are the late games on Sunday and Monday.

ESPN did not show the MNF games last season and the BBC were given them free in a late agreement so they would get some sort of exposure on TV. It hasn't been announced who will be showing it this year, but I seem to remember reading something about the BBC actually putting it on BBC TWO overnight and having a proper studio and live analysis and guests like Channel 4 do for SNF. Hopefully they do that this year (if indeed they even are showing it).

I wonder if Channel 4 could take MNF seeing as they are already showing SNF?

Yes, sign yourself up to Game Pass, if you have an iPhone or iPad it's even handier. You get almost every game live, every game on playback, the NFL Network and NFL Redzone.

I've been thinking about the game pass, what sort of price is it for the season? I used to stream games from the laptop, which was rubbish, and now in a different house with crap internet. I'd also like the ability to watch games at a reasonable time of day, so the game pass would be a great option, if the price was ok.

I used Gamepass for the draft, and I wasn't that impressed. I have good internet but I found the quality kept dropping. Is this normal or maybe a lot of extra traffic because it was free for the weekend.

Could be an issue with your laptop, how much memory/processing power have you got?

It was fine for me, excellent quality all weekend.

Sorry, but I refuse to pay £85 for Game Pass when I've got Sky Sports/Channel 4. That'll do me fine.

I love gamepass! Get to watch any of the games from the last couple of seasons whenever I want! I personally find it hard to see most things that happen in a game the firsth time around, so the ability to re-watch them is great for me!
