Just seen by chance American Audio and mackie have a identical range of powered subs.Any truth that they are now the same company.
Mackie to me are always a top brand especially in powered speakers.
American Audio is a brand I would'nt trust too much mainly low end P.A

Tear anything down far enough and it all comes from the same place. Very few places actually do their own R&D, build, development and production. Even since the early 90's, you could tear down top of the range Sony cameras (I used work in TV) and the actual sensor was a Panasonic. Same with their laptops, the internals are pretty much a Dell. DMX lighting always has the same issues. Thomann's StairVille range are basically the cheapest items on AliExpress.

I've lost a lot of faith in major companies as your now longer buying something a company has made, they've just done a tender and put their name on it.

    Do you buy from AliExpress?

No, merely an observation from comparison / repair work of the various units.

For sound I wouldn't buy something that looks like another brand, for lighting I'd try it. I hated the mackie 12s I borrowed for a gig. My fave american speaker is QSC.

I can't say as I've never bought direct but most of it is identical. On the downside, given the sheer volume Thomann buy its normally cheaper to buy from them plus being EU you won't have to worry about import tax etc.

    Hey Guys

Mackie and American Audio/American DJ are not related. Mackie is owned by Loud Technologies who also own other brands such as EAW, Tapco and Ampeg.

In relation to importing your own equipment be aware that you will have to pay shipping, pay import duty, VAT and other charges for clearing customs. You will also have a torrid time if you need any sort of warranty support or service. Please also be aware of product certification and markings such as CE etc.

    Best of luck to all
