I was gonna say that there aren't enough attention seeking loonies to make it happen but I'd be wrong there.

We also saw the atheist church in north London a few weeks ago. I'm seriously tempted to pop up there some Sunday.

All the article in the OP shows me is that there is a lot to be concerned about in respect to what some regard as Christian theology.

i can't see any reason why it wouldn't catch on given there is a sizable 'alternative' community here in ireland and it'd be safe to say a lot of its members would either feel uncomfortable or judged going to a 'regular' church. it would probably be a small community but nothing wrong with that, this is nothing new, i have a few friends who pastor communities like this in the US. so yeah, that's my 2 cents :D

also while a small percentage of alternative people are 'attention seeking' 99% of them are not they just happen to look different to you and to like different stuff than you do.

its a church with a style of music.

I'm not a fan of organ & chanted canticles so I attend a church where the music is more contemporary.

If I was the ony person who liked that kind of music, then my church would either need to change or die.

if there are 50 folks who like Jazz, then have a Jazz church. 30 whol like reggae? yup. a bunch who like extreme metal? why not?

    Why not?

Firstly, it depends very strongly on them not compromising Christian belief.

Secondly, I'd discourage the idea because the church is meant to be a mix of people who believe and trust in Jesus, it isn't meant to cater specifically to group X or group Y. One of the most wonderful things about church is thinking that there are people from varying walks of life, backgrounds, and whatever else who more than likely wouldn't be in the same building were it not for Jesus Christ saving them from their sin by paying the price in full.

That's far more amazing. Young people need their elders who can in wisdom and maturity teach them about what long life in the Gospel looks like, the metalheads need their other brothers and sisters in Christ. We shouldn't be making fickle divisions over music taste, or anything else, but we should be one in Christ Jesus. That include for church, church is the most powerful expression of cross boundary cross sectional love that one will see today.

I agree. If they want something different, let them do that, and not have Christianity being re-defined to one's own end.
