I stopped working in Ireland December 2011, and went to Australia for a year. I've just arrived back and a family member is telling me that I can claim some tax back from the last year that I worked in Ireland (2011). Is this true? And if so what do I need to claim it back? Thanks! :)

Ring Revenue and ask for a balancing statement for 2011 - depends really when in Dec you left - if it was towards the end it is unlikely you are due much back

As always go to the source for information, Revenue, link below. As the tax year runs from January to end of December, any refund due would be based on your unused portion of credits and rate band for the amount of time you weren't working in December.

Quickest way to check is to login to your paye anytime account and request a review for 2011.
