Eating Your Camera

My girlfriend and I embarked on a little project over the weekend that combined our hobbies - my photography and her baking. In homage to my trusty 40D, which may soon be retiring, we made a cake in its image.

Instead of clogging up the thread with dozens of the countless photos I took during its preparation, I've thrown a few composite images together showing the various stages. If anyone is interested in reading a bit more about it, I've also written about it on my photoblog, here.

From a photography perspective, the cake was tough to capture because the food dye was so damn reflective. Even with a borrowed softbox the lighting seemed harsh on the surface. Any comments/critiques are quite welcome; I'm very interested in food photography in general, and always looking to improve in the area.
