Without knowing any of the facts if it is as simple as mistaken identity then God bless the poor f****r, shooting his GF :( (Don't bother with the one liners )

    Link to story on this

So far it seems he thought she was an intruder, not unbelievable I suppose considering he'd have money and he'd be a target more then the average I'd imagine. Again too early though to tell what exactly happened

on newstalk this morning, apparently she was shot four times in the head and I think once in the stomach.

Hard to believe you can shoot someone multiple times without getting a bead on identity. Also head and chest suggests close range.

The rumours are now beginning re: allegations of issues of a violent nature with previous GF's.....

That would fit in with him being woken at 4am by someone sneaking around the shadows of his bedroom though.

Newstalk were quick to stop that sort of talk when an S.A. based Irish reporter brought it up. Otherwise he was reporting that the girlfriend had decided to surprise him by calling round unannounced. If that's the case it's a tragic story.

Police interview just now say no reports of mistaken identity and previous reports from the house in the past.

Reports suggest he was without limb at the time of the shooting.

Such a tragedy for both people and their families. Both individuals at the height of their careers, both having worked so incredibly hard to get there, and then a moment of madness destroys both of them forever.

Early days for the "moment of madness" comment perhaps. The police woman yesterday seemed to indicate that this might not have been the first "moment of madness" in his time as her boyfriend. If thats the case and if he is guilty of murder, then id have zero sympathy for him regardless of who he is or how good a runner he is. Its not just her career he may have taken, its her life.

Doesn't look good for him, don't think he has a leg to stand on.

Following the twitter of an SA journalist in the hearings about bail and seems that they are arguing over the meaning of different words at the moment to decide if it was "pre-meditated" or not:

All very confusing as to what actually happened. :(

The judge has gone for "Schedule 6" which is the pre-meditated charge so means that bail is unlikely. But said he may change his mind at the end of the hearing.

Did anyone else watch The Last Leg on C4 on Friday? Was still early on in this whole event when the show went out admittedly so there wasn't really much to base their opinion on, but they seemed a bit hit by their hero falling from grace.

His statement makes no sense. First thing you would do is talk to your partner about hearing something, or at least check they were okay if you heard something. Shoot through a closed door without checking? Really?

And whoever wrote that statement for him; saying he kicked in the door was a very poor choice of words.

Yeah very odd account, his affadavit states that the gun was under the bed yet he also states he didnt notice a lack of girlfriend in the bed. After the shooting etc. he states he went on the balcony to call for help, bizzare. His story will struggle to stand up and the judge seems to think the same by makeing it their equivalent of murder 1.

Glad to read some sanity here. There was an SA journalist reporting on it/being interviewed by BBC5 live and she seemed to think that his account would have people thinking it was an accident. Personally I found his account bizarre and leading me towards the conclusion that this was done on purpose.

After he's done with this murder case he will have WADA to answer to.

The prosecution came in today and said they found "steroids", then he corrected himself and said "testosterone".

Then when the defence queried what they actually found it was "testo compositum co-enzyme" which is apparently an over the counter herbal remedy.

They have also got a "witness" to the argument from a house 600m away, and bullet holes in the door which match with Oscars version of events, no assault injuries to the body, they didn't check to see when the paramedics were actually called. Basically all of the police evidence has been shown to be pretty useless for them so far.

Your description almost seems generous at the moment. You'd hope that when it comes to the actual trial that some proper investigative work will have been done.

Apparently theyve appointed a top regional head detective.....

Apparently, when the defense cross examined botha they falsely claimed that the witness house was 600m from pistorius. It is in fact much closer. Bizarrely, botha remained silent! The prosecution forced the defense toconcede that the witness was in hearing range of the pistorius residence, but the damage was done.
Botha, also allowed pistorius "supporters" to remove illegal ammunition from the crime scene.
He claimed he found teststorone, but could not prove it as no tests were completed. The counter claim that it is herbal remedy is also unproven.
The judge maintained that there was potentially plenty of evidence to show pistorius had a "violent disposition" but botha had not bothered to dig for it.

And most damning, he claimed that the gun holes were from a height consistant with pistorius wearing his prosthetics, yet incredibly claimed also that pistorius account was possible!

No checking of the calls from one of the phones found and no checking of pistorius supporters phones, was appalling. Who was rung by whom directly after the shooting would tell if pistorius and supporters were in "terrible accident" mode or in "Oscars f'ed up we need to clean this up mode "

Any decent investigating of the above and even not allowing the defenses false claim that the witness was 600m away to stand would have made it nigh impossible to gain bail.

Its all very strange. He gets unprecedented custody in a police station because his lawyer neded to talk to him over the weekend? The judge says it wont be a precedent. Well it will be an exception so!

I dont believe pistorius will spend a day in jail for this killing. I believe that the defense have got the circus they needed to get him off. I have a feeling that witness will rue the day she ever moved close to oscar Pistorius (or "oscar" or "blade runner" as the impartial sa and international media dub this murder suspect).
