Hate to say it but going on similar stories of late the car has either been stripped or shipped to Africa.

Someone else captured a member of a well know member of a certain section of our society doing the sane to their classic Merc.

It was recovered after being stripped best.

I have a Carina E myself parked up at home, would have thought it would be the last thing that would be targeted - sorry to hear about this one.

Whats the craic with shipping cars to Africa? You see it a lot on DD now with old cars for sale - "For Parts or Export"

Cars vans plant machinery etc are shipped to Africa and the likes because they buy any old crap send it over and it gets done up cheap(everything is pennys there)basically a 300car will be stripped and put like New and sold on

Large Audi's, BMW's, Mercedes and Jaguar's go to Cork and then to countries like Georgia, Kazakhstan and likes.

I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”

My neighbour across the road had his 96 Carina E with 420k miles stolen last month.

He's had it since 97 communing from Mullingar to Dublin everyday! Body was not the best, but it ran very, very sweet, ba$tards

All it takes is one guy cruising around in a recovery truck ( like the one pictured in the thread below)stroking two or three older cars a week, and you'll be seeing more threads like this.

I was in Spain this summer working .My Diesel jap import Carina car 1993 was prime target to get stolen so the locals say.All the 1990 to 1999 cars are the most licky to be stolen . The reason is that often the owners like me dont have any insurance except third party so Insurance companies wont pay much attention to it.They either get shipped out in part or in whole to North Africa .The non turbo Deisel are easy to get 1,000,000 miles from the engines so tey want them big time in Africa. I was down at the local scrap metal agent to dump 10 batteries retrieved from old boat .Got €10 a battery for scrap lead handy extra drink money. There he told me junker cars like mine often get robbed chopped up and sold to scrap metal merchants and the average price is €300 in scrap metal. Good parts are put into the local spare parts or shipped out . I always parked my car in Spain carefully to avoid likelly spots where they would steal it.

    Sorry to hear OP.
Brother is laws car was towed away in a similar style incident at the start of Jan.
People stopped and talked to the guy towing it, it's there pure and utter confidence that makes nobody suspicious.
They were claiming the car was broken down and being towed to be fixed.
