Help and advice please for Z4

    Hi All,

I went to see a Z4 today, which I really like and struck a deal on. The car was advertised as having a semi-automatic roof but I checked online and there seems to be 2 parts to the roof mechanics, the locking part (this works) and the motor that pulls down and puts up the roof, it is the motor part that seems to be broken in this particular Z4.

So what I am asking is, does anyone know how much it would cost to repair this? and who could do it in Ireland? I see caymanautos in the uk are recommended for this work in UK but I would not like to travel over to london to get this work done ideally.

Or should I walk away from the car? the only fault seems to be the roof mechanics, clean motorcheck etc.

Advice badly needed please, thanks. (I posted in bmw-driver forum too)

If it needs a new part rather than repair of the motor, Look up the part using realoem.com - It's simple to use.

Once you have a part number, ring JKC Coleraine BMW dealership and find out how much it costs. Then bring it to an indy for fitting.

I had to get this done to my z4 a few months ago. I bought the replacement motor new from ebay (~270 euro). Its a big enough job that needs the whole roof to be removed (see http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=357940). I got it done by Bloomfield Motors. Very happy with their work.

I'd recommend cmc motors in clondrinagh over alpine motor works. Experience of both with my BMW, purely from a customer service pov
