For a farm quad to be road legal it had to be registered and have a number plate, be taxed e300 + and indicators my farm quad has neither

You probably wont be able to register it. The irish government stopped registering them in 2008. As far as i know they wont pass EU tests.
As a result you wont be able to register the good makes, honda, yamaha, suzuki etc
That said you can get chinese makes you can register .

With regard indicators on quads, if they were fitted from day one they should work, if they were never fitted they are not required legally.

As regards taxing it , they used to let you tax it as an agricultural vehicle, not any more. now you can tax it privately .
    I have a 08 420 honda which cost 185 to tax

If you want to drive a quad on the road legally my best advice is to sell yours and buy a road registered one. They come up on donedeal every now and again.

You will probably only be ably to insure it as part of a farm policy with FBD for farm use only.
