Blowing bulbs.

    Can anyone help me, house rewired 2 years ago, problem is the bulb 100w in the bathroom with new fitting and globe surround keeps blowing 5 in 12 months and when my nieghbour turns on there shower our front room light dims/flickers.
    Any ideas what can be wrong, all help gratefully received...

    100 watt bulbs are of the market with a few years now.Your light may not be suitable for 100 watt bulb. I would ring the ESB about your lights flickering if you are sure it is related to your neighbours shower as it may be a transformer issue.

    Stick in a cfl bulb..
    I've found they last much better, particularly if you have fluctuations in supply..

    As far as I can remember the bathroom globes are only rated for max 60w bulbs. 100w will get very hot in the globe and this will shorten their life.

    There is 2 types .A 60 watt and a larger 100 watt if the wrong bulb is fitted in them the overheating will also damage the bulb holder.
