http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4567760 ...... going to view tomorrow morning.

I looked at this ad on donedeal and i am going to see it tomorrow.

The man selling it tells me it is a 90bhp golf mk4 remapped to 130bhp. He says there is no additional modifications it is just standard. The clutch was also done 8 months ago.........

Wondering is this a pile of scrap or what. Trying to find a golf van in good nick is an impossibilty

Surely there are more differences between the 90bhp and 130bhp versions than a pure remap?

For example - On a modern Focus the 115bhp 1.6TDCI has a bigger turbo and injectors than the 95bhp variant. It also has rear disc brakes.

The 130bhp golf is the pd engine. The 90 is the older ve engine. Basicly like the tdci and tddi in the fords.

There would be a different turbo in the 130s along with bigger front brakes.

Id say 130 is just a figure he is pulling off the top of his head. A 90 would never make 130 with just a remap and if it did it would kill clutches on it. If it was 115 it would be well mapped..

Tdi golf? They are making good money so you should sell it handy. No point in a good car going to waste parked up

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,364 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Even in the PD engines the 130bhp has different injectors to the standard 100bhp version afaik.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,626 ✭✭✭✭vectra

Throw in a set of injectors from a 110 and you could hit 140.

Your Friend got a 40% power increase from a remap? Where is the dyno sheet?

No what the other man was saying is that to volkswagen there is no GtTDI, it was something devised by English dealers to sell cars to people and make them believe they were getting the better car when in fact it was the same.

These kind of replies really annoy me about the motors forum. So what if the op wants a car that the rest of us, myself included admittedly, think are rubbish and laughable. The lad came on to a motoring forum to ask about a form of transport he is interested and has the pish taken out of him.
    /end rant.

It will coo. Just the backbox, don't straight pipe it from the turbo as you get this unholy bark from the back..... Consider the evry mod when binning the backbox, for extra smoke ;)

Piss taking is mandatory for this kind of BS
It belongs on skangernomics.ie or something not here. We are interested in actual cars not fake "coo" pigeon exhausts.

Exactly max, maybe the lads might entertain him in the modified section. I hate all things related to that kind of thing and that sort of nonsense carry on lark!

It's where you cross 2 wires in the map sensor plug (open to corrections on the exact plug) are brdged with a variable resistor. I'd leave a link only I'm on a phone. The results will give extra bhp, a 110 Toledo made 138 bhp on a dyno for example.....

I'll be at a computer later and host a link then ;)
