Best media centre UI

    Hi folks.
I'm looking to upgrade my media centre/streaming set up. After a few different machines/boxes it's become clear to me that the most important aspect of the new set up should be it's user interface. I need the wife/kids/mother in law to be able to use it with out any problems.

At the minute, I'm using a Popcorn hour c200 with 2TB of built in storage in the sitting room and a PC using XBMC streaming from that wirelessly in the bedroom.

The 2 TB is nearly full so I've bought another one and am in the process of purchasing a NAS and hardwireing the house with CAT-5.

The PCH is a great piece of kit, but it's not very intuative and sometimes the wife can mess it up by pressing the wrong button on the unviversal remote. XBMC really hasn't been tested enough, but the UI seems pretty good. the issue is the PC is a noisey fecker and takes an age to power up.

I used to have a WDTV and lashed some custom firmware into it for movie pages etc. While this was good - it needed a few of the functions that the PCH has.

So essentially - after a very long and conveluted post - I'm looking for a media player that can stream over a network, the UI (jukebox) is very intuative, starts up pretty much when you press start (doesn't have you trawl through loads of menus) and can play pretty much anything.

FWIW - I have two smart TVs in the sitting room and bedroom. Does anybody have any experience of streaming using these? I get the impression that there are lots of menus to scroll through before you can get to watch a movie.

    Cheers

What do you mean XBMC hasn't been tested enough? I find it amazing and solid as a rock

    Sorry, I meant - I hadn't tested it enough.

    Thanks for the link

XBMC with the Quartz Skin... so simple to use and everyone can navigate the menus without having to do a diploma in XBMC studies! :D

The Quartz skin is so light aswell that it speeds along compared to the other skins, and it doesn't hog the CPU.

Perfect if running XBMC on a Rasberry Pi.
