You will need permission of the parish priest to bring in a priest from a different parish.

Can you not ask the priest in the parish you are getting married in? I know it is not your parish but they will still have a priest and he might be very willing to do it.

Unfortunately, it's not strange at all. If you're not marrying in your parish church, most churches will tell you to arrange your own priest. Happened to us. My husband had his Holy Communion and Confirmation and was a parishoner at the church we married at. But because he lived 400 yds from the parish boundary, not only did we have to pay E300 for the church (not that we minded), but also had to get his PP to marry us.

Are you able to get your own PP to marry you? Might have to throw him a few quid, but might be worth a shot?

We're originally from Waterford, now living in the UK and getting married in Cork! The parish priest was lovely to us but told us that you really need to try and get your own priest, usually from your own parish. If you absolutely can't get a priest someone from the parish you're getting married in may well agree to do it, but they're not obligated to do so.

We were worrying about it but my fiancees parents went to see their parish priest to ask if he would consider doing our wedding and he agreed straight away. :D

So I suggest asking a priest you know. They'll probably help you out.
