'Heart Attack Grill' fan has heart attack!

John Alleman, 52, collapsed at bus stop outside restaurant that sells burgers, fries and drinks with huge calorie counts

The mascot for the Heart Attack Grill in Las Vegas has died of a heart attack. He was the second unpaid mascot to die in the past two years.
John Alleman, 52, collapsed while waiting at a bus stop in front of the diner last week. He was taken off life support on Monday, the Las Vegas Sun reported.

The diner is famous for its huge hamburgers, extra-fat milkshakes and fries cooked in lard. It uses the tagline: "Taste worth dying for."

Its owner, Jon Basso, told the Sun that Alleman came to the restaurant daily and encouraged passing tourists to try its calorie-laden offerings.
"He never missed a day, even on Christmas," Basso said. "People just loved him. He connected with people in a real way."

Alleman became an unofficial mascot for the restaurant, which features waitresses in nurse garb. His caricature as "Patient John" graced its merchandise and menus.

In 2011 another unofficial spokesman, a 260kg (575lb) man named Blair River, died at age 29 from what was said to have been pneumonia.

In 2012 a man in his 40s was hospitalised after he began sweating and shaking while eating a 6,000-calorie Triple Bypass burger at the restaurant.
The diner features tongue-in-cheek health warnings and casts customers as patients. Customers are given surgical gowns as they choose from a the high-calorie menu.

Basso said Alleman weighed about 82kg (180lb) at his death.

It amazes what people will do to their bodies. I mean, maybe go there once a week at most if you like it that much. Give yourself a fighting chance.

    Disgusting behaviour in my opinion.

Edit: This quote from the Heart Attact Grill website: "Wow, I've gained 20 pounds in just two months. The Heart Attack Grill Diet really works!"

Meh, people wander around smoking 40 cigarettes a day full in the knowledge that they are giving themselves cancer. At least this guy only killed himself and he wasn't even fat.

Since I first heard about that place there's few places I'd rather go. Ages since I had chips fried in lard instead of crappy (and more unhealthy) vegetable oil.

I love how they refer to some guy as an "unofficial spokesman", can we all call ourselves that? I'm an unofficial spokesman for lingerie models.

I looked at the menu once but said fcuk it, I'm here to enjoy myself not kill myself, went across to a bar, got pissed, fell down the stairs, fought with some homeless people and woke up in the morning in a dingy motel a seventy dollar cab ride from Vegas.

Should have went to the Heart Attack Grill.

I admire their honesty and it certainly beats the likes of McDonalds and their 'MacHealthy' bullshít.

    "Butterfat shake"

"Add 4oz of whipped cream flavoured vodka".

Oh moses, how could you not give that a go at least once?

''Feeling Ghetto'....rather than die from a heart attack at the bus stop we will arrange for some local gangbangers to perform a drive by as you stand there waiting.'

We take eighteen ounces of sizzling ground beef, and soak it in rich, creamery butter, then we top it off with bacon, ham, and a fried egg. We call it the Good Morning Burger.

It's more about having a diet that unhealthy as opposed to just being fat.

He was obviously fat on the inside though. His arteries must've been riddled with plaque with all this terrible food.

And the restaurant should be ashamed of themselves serving this. I mean, kids can go into places like this an order what they want.

There was a bit of controversy in that place last year some time. Apparently people eating at the restaurant believed that the women dressed as scantily clad nurses had actual medical experience. They're all required now to make it known that's not the case before taking orders :pac:

I'm sorry but I just have no sympathy for people do this to themselves knowing and seeing all of the consequences long before their eventual demise.

One guy was 260kg (573lbs) and died at just 29! Even so, he mustn't have had any life quality outside of eating and he put himself there slowly, it by bit.

It's like some heavy smokers I know, they have been told they need to take action and cut out the fags because they've had non just one, but two or three health scares because of them but they just refuse to. They just keep adding to the damage full, well knowing where it could put them sooner than they should.

It's sad that same people throw away their lives like that, but it was a gradual process and they could've tackled it much earlier but chose to go ahead with it anyway. The sympathy for them just isn't there for me.

Deaths like this should be included in the 'Suicide' statistics.

Seriously, I'd rather spend money on that sorta food when you know that your definitely going to be full after it than on over-priced food in some pretentious restaurant with tiny portions. Want not. Waste not.

82kg isn't THAT fat, unless he was three foot tall or something.

He was probably just one of those intensely annoying dumb@sses who accost people outside restaurants and try to drag them in

It's under 13 stone, not fat at all if he was average height.
You can be grossly unhealthy and not obese :)

Saw a bit about this on the news, if people want to shovel that shíte into them let them off, they have only themselves to blame when they end up dead like the half ton 29 year old guy.
