I'm looking for some lego star wars pieces. Mainly the main cast and possibly one or two props. The generic stuff. Looking at Smyths they seem to have very specific sets that don't include the characters I am looking for and are insane money(tho I have a feel I will be corrected and these prices are norm for lego these days) anywhere online that might sell more generic kits or even a source specific for star wars lego I could trawl through?

Unfortunately the majority of stuff you see on shelves these days is the Clone Wars, because that's what the kids are into - the original trilogy seems to have gone by the wayside somewhat, which is a shame for oldies like us. And yeah, prices are a bit mad these days, but you pay a premium for SW in particular because of the licensing fees they have to pay LucasArts.

If you're looking for individual cast members, your best bet is to register on www.bricklink.com where you can buy individual minifigures out of the sets (as long as you're not looking for rare variants, they're not terribly expensive). It's also worth keeping an eye on shop.lego.com (and navigate to the Star Wars tab) and on Amazon (particularly the EU variants like Italy and France) for better selection than what you'd find in stores here.

I picked up the latest version of Slave1 on ebay for 120euro delivered recently. I also picked up X-Wing & TieFighter in Argos, and the A-Wing in the craft shop in Liffey Valley.

I saw the X-Wing for sale in Tesco recently, on sale at what seemed like a good price though I can't remember it at the moment. That's a brilliant kit...

It was reduced to 36. I got the last one in Clearwater, but that was a few weeks ago :)
