NBS no service

My sister signed up to the NBS last month and the service she is receiving is **** like her download speed is less than 200kbps and only last two minutes requiring constant disconnects/reconnects and every time she phones Three they tell her to move the CPE repeater or take out the sim card and clean it. When all this fails they keep promising her someone will call her back but they never do. She contacted the DCENR last week who got on to Three about it and they called her back yesterday to tell her the service Three is providing in the area is excellent. What a load of BS.

What are the next steps she will need to take. Comreg keep referring her to the DCENR and they are taking the side of Three in this. Obviously they will have to install satellite for her as the service is unusable. She lives across the road from me and every time she or my nieces have to send an email or use Facebook they have to sit in the garden because my WiFi signal won't work in their house.

Thankfully I'm with Vodafone DSL broadband. Lines across the road fail for broadband and even Meteor which is 3-5mbps here throughout my house for some strange reason can't get a signal across the road and the local wireless broadband provider in my area. Her house is the only one in the estate with no line of site to the mast. Guess the house number 13 is unlucky for some

Would you not let them come into your house to send an email? Not very brotherly of you to leave them out in the cold.

Set up partents in rural Roscommon on NBS when it started. Got reasonable connection for first few days but never met the minimum at the time 1mb. Usually bursts of 200k followed by long pauses and disconnects. Since then it has deteriorated to virtually nothing.

Over the years they have just about been able to send the odd email, or check online banking, but nothing more due to continuos disconnects, poor signal, latency, server timeouts and low data speeds due to the connection.

We complained at first and were given the usual runaround about moving modem, changing modem/sim, the pointless "booster" which did nothing more than kill brain cells and waste electricity.

I've tried following up with NBS helpline several times but each time has been a painful experience of endless circular conversations, "escalated" calls never returned, and patronisingly being told all is fine in my area.

3 won in the end and I gave up, but kept paying so my parents weren't totally cut off. Stupid I know but the helpline was such a chore I gave up. Time I took it higher I guess.

You want to be saying that in the Talk to Three forum
