Hi guys, anyone that could nudge me in the right direction would be extremely appreciated.. Basically my story is, I am a Lithuanian national living here since 2003, finished Leaving Cert here, did a couple of years in Computer science, have an IT certificate, but I'm not sure it's my kind of thing. Now that I'm 22, have worked in an office for over 4 years now, I know it's not what I want to do for the rest of my life. My main dream was to become a member of An Garda Sciochana, but been waiting for 2 years, and I see Garda stations closing down rather than recruiting new people. I'd like to do one of two jobs, either a police officer/detective etc, or a Prison Service correctional officer or a similar role in prison. Am big into crimonology etc. Was planning to move to Canada and become a police officer over there but you have to wait 3 years there and also have a permanent residents status. I don't mind the wait, if I know that I'm waiting for the career of my life, but it's not certain I'll get a permanent resident's status. AFAIK most European countries are in decline and not really hiring state emergency services staff. What would be my best shot of achieving this dream? I'll go to Japan if I have to, but I have to have good reason and be sure I'll have a good chance of becoming either a police officer, detective or a prison officer. I heard UK aren't hiring any such staff, obviously Ireland aren't either, what other decent options are there?

    Again, thanks for any replies.
