When the sun was out one of the days two weeks ago I noticed the clear coat is peeling. What is the best way to remove the clear coat or should I just bring it to a body shop

No easy solution to that one. Body shop would have to tidy it up and apply new clear coat.

Could I sand the clear coat to get it ready for a new clear coat

Leave it to the pros. The sanding would hardly be the difficult part.

The only real remedy for your problem is to get the offending area repainted with a new base coat and a new clear coat on top. The only place for this job is a body shop.

It would probably be cheaper to find the parts in a breakers. If it's just bonnets and doors.
