Mondeo Air-Con not working...

    Hi
I am having a problem with my Mondeo Mk3 in that the air con isnt working too well all of a sudden.

When I turn on the air, it seems to only work at the lowest level. When I turn up the dials it doesn't increase in blowing power nor when I turn on the a/c. So it seems to only blow at a very low level. WOuld this suggest that it needs to be re-gassed or does it sound more like a bigger issue (especially as it started all of a sudden)?

Is there any point in getting it re-gased?

It sounds more like an issue with the heater fan than the air con to be honest. Any garage should be able to tell you if you get them to take a quick look.

Thanks!. I was clinging to the hope that when the pressure goes low the aircon pump is switched off.

I may pop along to fastfit and get them to take a look at it

    UPDATE:

Ok so I had parked the car up for a few hours and when I got back into it a while ago the air-con was back working as good as ever...

Weird..Should I be worried about this?

From your last update, it might just be a frosted or frozen evaporator coil. With low ambients and low interior temperature setting, once the coil temp approaches 0*C, you will get frost. System with a freeze thermostat then will cyle off until coils thaws. What mode are you using on climate control? Remember coil will always be colder than cabin air temp so dont be fooled.
Try Auto / Reheat ,,,,, 21~23*C and 50% RH should be comfortable for anyone per ASHRAE/ ARI.
