M249 LED Safety Indicator

Just had a little idea pop into my head,seen it in a friends video game.Would it be possible to link a red LED to the safety selector so when its armed and off safe it glows red? I know my around airsoft guns and have taken many apart for repairs,mods ect. No real purpose for this i just think it would be cool. Any ideas?
