If someone is looking to get an SD memory card I think this is a pretty good deal.

    SanDisk Extreme SDHC
    €9.99 for 8GB
    €17.99 for 16GB
    and €29.99 for 32GB

    That's including delivery.

    Bought one myself.

Would you need a class 10 for playing music on a car stereo, or would a lower/cheaper one do?
Not too familiar with the cards.

Being perfectly honest, I'd just go with a class 10 card. Memory is so cheap these days it's not worth saving a couple of quid on a slower card.

If it's for a car stereo, make sure it can handle large amounts of data okay, it may be able to read the card fine, but I find navigating through the cards can be a complete pain.

    any card would do

memoryc is cheaper for all of them anyway, free delivery if 15e spent

I got a 16gb lexar one on play a couple of weeks back for €9 delivered on play.com. It's down as a class 4, but I'm getting class 10 speeds from it when I benchmark it, seems other people are too from reading the reviews.

    http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/16710254/Lexar-16GB-Micro-SDHC-Memory-Card-Class-4/Product.html?searchstring=lexar+sd&searchsource=0&searchtype=allproducts&urlrefer=search

@Soarer: I'm sure class 4 would be more than adequate for just playing music and videos. Higher speeds are only necessary if you want to record videos, AFAIK.

Faster cards are also useful for higher resolution cameras with multi-shot eg the newer digital slrs

I read reviews on Amazon about it and went on ebay next day delivery from irish seller for 27quid 32GB class 10 TRANSCEND.
Was not such a bargain alert.

Anybody that has ordered one have you received yours yet? Ordered one 2 weeks ago and no sign of it yet so just checking in here before I send off an email.

I still wonder why people order from sites like this and wait weeks for delivery, when memoryc takes two days

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2 medieval78

I haven't received it either. I placed my order over 2 weeks ago.

Memoryc was no-brainer choice until they started to charge all orders smaller than €15. Still good thou.

Yea, the delivery charge is a pity. I think the play.com marketplace is better value now.

Available in store, not sure all stores have them, but I've seen them in Tallaght, Carrickmines and Henry Street in recent weeks.

Much the same price on amazon.co.uk aswell.
Then alarm bells should be ringing. Amazon are pretty cheap for cards (free delivery if over £25).

Thing is groupon usually take 50% of the value so that company is probably only getting half of what you pay. So I would question if the card is genuine, how can they sell them so cheap. Groupon deals like beauty treatments etc and afford to be offered at 50% off (75% off after groupon get their cut).

If you get one I would check the capacity, actually load on 32GB and download it off the card, do not just check what a format tool tells you. Check speed if you have software too.

Loads of people were stung on a usb memory keydrive last year on a similar voucher site.

I see someone posted earlier that PCWorld is selling two 16Gb cards for 24 euro. If they can sell them at that price I wouldn't be to worried about the one I got online for 18 euro. If I ever get it though.

Btw, if I receive the card in next few days I will ring SanDisk straight away, they can tell by SN if the card is genuine or not.

Mine arrived today, packaging and card look genuine. Comes up as 29.7 GB capacity.

Some companies have an online check you can do

My point is that if you paid €18 then the shop is in effect selling for €9, since groupon usually take 50%.
Comes up as 29.7 GB capacity.
Fakes usually show correct capacity but go corrupt when you try and fill them.

Check out this external fake with a usb key inside!

Filled mine up and downloaded the files again and everything works ok. How would I check its speed?

There is also a code for a 1 year subscription to RescuePro Deluxe with the card.

I also got my card this morning.
And to everyone who is concerned about the card being genuine or not, I did ring SanDisk in UK and they confirmed that the card I received is genuine SanDisk product.
