I applied Feb 2012.I got called for an interview from the reserve panel for next week.
Anybody know how advanced your word and excel skills need to be,I mean I can type a letter or report no prob and do the basics in excel but if they are looking for fancy formulas and charts then not so sure.

Sorry I just re-read my post, the TCO position I applied for is in a different department than the State examinations commission.

I worked in Revenue as a TCO a few times. Didn't use excel much. Most of the work involved using the central computer system, updating customer details, opening post, writing basic letter in Word etc. So I wouldn't worry. The staff in most departments are very helpful.

Thanks for the reply, the interview is also in Revenue.Any tips about the interview, how formal it was,is it a real grilling or just cross the tees and dot the i's,making sure that you are not a serial killer kind of job.

Well at my interviews they went through my CV. Asked questions on my computer skills, if I could work to deadlines (and I gave examples), how I would deal with irate members of the public (listening skills etc.), doing repetitive work etc. Try to be confident about your own skills, because most with strong people skills can do the job well. The interview will be short, usually 20-25 minutes.

Yeah, I got an email to say I'm in the reserve panel, and won't be getting an interview at this time.

Anyone here ever get work from the Reserve Panel?
