Tesco launching FREE rival to Netflix

The cost of continuing content acquisition is enormous, Netflix has spent around 2 billion so far, I can't imagine a free service from Tesco being any serious competition though it will be interesting to see what's on it.

Its powered by Blinkbox, which isn't available in Ireland. Doubt this will be any different.

Blinkbox works in Ireland, I've rented from them before.

    This too shall pass.

Nothing to get too excited about. Anyone who used Blinkbox regularly would remember their freebie section, which they recently got rid of to make room for this. They had some good titles, like Dumb and Dumber, Blade, Risky Business etc. But no way would it compete with Netflix.

I thought you needed UK Credit Card/Address, my mistake then.

Things might have changed since Tesco got involved I'm not sure, I may even have had to 'borrow' a Postcode to make it work I can't remember, I'm not a regular user. I just remember that because Blinkbox when it started was set up by the same people as 4OD they let Irish people in on the freebies and I rented Serenity (after watching through Firefly on Netflix) and Captain America (to be up to date for Avengers Assemble) off them before with no hassle.

    This too shall pass.

Not to be outdone, Lidl and Aldi are bringing out their version too, every customer will recieve a free copy of the CCTV footage from their carparks the night before.

    The bad news?....
