Freezer part works fine , checked with thermometer is down to -25 .

Fridge part in trouble, stays at 8 degrees wherever thermostat is set. The light still comes on and the motor still hums.

Is this a lack of refridgerant , faulty thermostat or is it game over for this baby.
    It is 10 years old.
    Model no. is CG 3100
70/30 inbuilt Indesit fridge/freezer. Many thanks. Hugh.

before the fridge gave up did you see a lump of ice on the evaporator where it makes the ice, usually contents get too cold. if so it has an internal leak and not repairable, continious running is usually the indicator

Thanks for that. Yes there was a big chunk of ice on the back wall that slowly grew out of nothing. I defrosted it and cleaned it out and started it off again. It runs constant and wont cool lower than8 degrees so probably snookered.
