    practice !!

download steam and there's a good few free fps's out there

try planet side 2 its good

EDIT:also you'd be better of posting in the games forum as here is more for the tech side of things :http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/forumdisplay.php?f=12

PLanetside 2 is a good place to start: it's free, and even if you're good at FPS games, you're going to get killed. A lot. If you're a novice and you take that budding young virgin gamer brain and train it on something like Planetside 2, you will come close to godliness.

well aaron if it makes you feel any better,PC fps players are of a better quality than you'd meet generally on consoles!

also theres loads of good 1 player games too that you could look into ..bioshock 1/2,farcry 3,half life 2(a must).

Also have a look at Team Fortress 2 (its free afaik on steam) for a more light hearted shoot em up

Get yourself a wired xbox 360 controller. It works perfectly with a windows pc. It has to be the wired one and not the rechargeable one though.

This is great for driving games and as mentioned above, it works perefectly with Windows.

For FPS games I would prefer a keyboard and gaming mouse any day though.
