Dealer is free to ask what he likes for any car. Up to the customer to make an offer.

Well BG can ask for eleventy billion euro for that car if he wants,

If you're dumb enough to deal with them, you're dumb enough to pay silly money. (imo)

oh and call into them, they'll do you a deal, then when you come back to make the deal they'll fcuk you out of it and shout at women and children.

I nearly prefer car sales men to be like this. Last thing I want is someone telling me I'm getting a great deal, buying the best car on the road, <insert cliché here>

I went to see a civic there, got all excited, was told the usual "clean, mint etc" over the phone.

Got there and the car had suffered many, many car park scrapes over the few years of its life, in well below average condition. Walked away without even talking to the salesman.

Reminds me of last year when I was buying a banger for my father in law. Saw a Corolla advertised on Donedeal with low mileage. No scrapes or scratches and "just had full service today".

Went with a buddy of mine who is a mechanic to look at it. Seller wasn't there, but told us on phone to have a look at it, it was open and he would be back in 15 mins. Buddy pulled the bonnet and dipped it for oil first thing - not a tint of oil showing on the dipstick. Engine was cold. Never got out of a place so fast. Seller rang me later that evening wondering if I was still interested - told him about the lack of oil. Said he'd give us €200 off it. Not a chance!!!
