Was "helping" tagging a calf today, got bvd sample etc, all went smoothly until he checked the box and i had taken out the wrong number, who knew they read from right to left in Mullahone? I automatically the first tag(on the right) on each strip and took the lowest number, da Vinci I am not?

What do we do now? hes always got them in correct order before and reckons i've rightly messed up?

dont think it matters if they are not registered in numerical order. we lost a box of tags so skipped 15 numbers and then we found it and nothing was said

Same here. It seems to make no difference, it happened me a couple of times.

Makes no difference I have done this a few times myself. Once a calf has an official tag the same number in each ear you have no problem. You do not have to stay in order

Wouldn't have a lot of interest in this but I heard a teagasc guy tell a farmer one of his options was to put his old tags away for three years and not to bother getting corresponding BVD tags...just confirms that it doesn't matter what urder your reg's are done
